Bowl Bits

Many bowl bits are specifically designed by a manufacturer to cutout and trim their particular bowl. While many manufactures use the same bits it is recommended that you check to see what bits are specifically recommended.

Rough Cutout Bits are designed to rough cut a bowl when you have not cut the hole prior to gluing up the bowl. They have a smaller cutting diameter and will cut through the material quicker and easier. A Stagger Tooth is generally recommended.

Overhang Trim Bits can be used for rough cutout but they are not generally recommended. They have a larger cutting diameter and have two flutes that will slow the cut time. They are use when an overhang is needed or when you have pre-cut the bowl opening.

Bevel Bits are used when a bevel is required. Make sure to use the  proper degree of cut for the bowl you are cutting.

Rounding Over bits are used after you have either flush cut the bowl or cut with an Overhang trim Bit. The angle is important so you don't leave an edge to be sanded. A Rounding Over Bit can be set to cut the proper radius or it can be held high to create a rounded look.
